Fondue - classic to unusual
Fondue is French for "melt". There are three basic types of fondue, all are typically served in a fondue pot or some other vessel that keeps the mixture warm. Long handled skewers or forks are used to dip various ingredients (depending on the type of fondue) into the pot. Fondue can be a fun and tasty experience for the whole family.

types of fondue:
The most common type of fondue is a melted cheese mixture (usually mixed with wine or chicken broth). A wide variety of cheeses can be used, as long as they melt smoothly. Typical "dippers" for cheese fondue are cubes of bread and vegetables. Sometimes seafood or other ingredients are added to the cheese.
Another type of fondue is one that actually cooks the food you dip in it. It's called "fondue bourguignonne". Oil is placed in the fondue pot and pieces of raw meat are dipped into the oil and left there until they cook. The meat is then dipped into a sauce to eat.
The last type of fondue is a dessert fondue usually made from chocolate. Pieces of firm cake like pound cake or fruit are dipped into the sweet sauce. The chocolate mixture will sometimes contain a liqueur.
