June is National Iced Tea Month

Iced tea, often called "ice tea", is made from brewed tea that is served over ice instead of hot. In the Southern U.S. it is commonly just referred to as "tea" and is assumed to be the chilled variety unless specified as "hot tea".
This summertime-favorite can be made from a variety of tea leaves including black tea, green tea, and even white tea. It can be sweetened, or not, and can be flavored. Sweet tea is most common on the Southern U.S. whereas the rest of the U.S. typically serves unsweetened as the norm. The most common flavor addition is lemon. It is often served with lemon juice already added to the tea or with slices of lemon in the glass. Iced tea can be made with regular or decaffeinated tea leaves.
One version of iced tea that became popular in the U.S. is "sun tea". Tea bags are placed in a large glass jar with water and left to sit in the sun all day. The heat of the sun brews the tea at a slower rate than using heated water.
