Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

Two for one in this recipe: ginger green tea syrup and a mint ginger iced tea. The non-alcoholic mint cocktail is crazy refreshing, and it's easy to doctor up with a little bit of gin if things are getting serious.

Ginger Tea Syrup
6 green tea bags or spoonfuls of loose tea
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3 ounces fresh ginger, sliced
For Cocktail
10 fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup ginger tea syrup
3 cups club soda
1 lime
Simmer all tea syrup ingredients in a saucepan until sugar is dissolved, about 5-7 minutes. Strain and chill syrup.
Muddle mint with syrup and place in a pitcher of ice. Fill to top of pitcher with club soda. Stir and add a squeeze of lime. Serve garnished with lime wedges or mint leaves.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
