Meaty pork chops are marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, cola, garlic, and ginger and then grilled or broiled. The marinade not only imparts a delicious flavor but makes the pork incredibly tender.
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup Coca-Cola (not diet)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
6 center-cut pork chops
Combine the soy sauce, cola, garlic, and ginger in a zip-top plastic bag or other non-reactive container. Add the pork chops and seal the bag. Turn to coat in the marinade. Place in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours, turning occasionally.
Preheat the grill or broiler.
Remove the pork chops from the marinade. Place the marinade in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Let cook for 3 minutes then remove the pan from the heat.
Place the pork on the grill (or on a broiler pan and under the broiler). Cook for 5-6 minutes per side, basting frequently with the marinade.
For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce to the marinade.
Try using fresh ginger instead of ground ginger for a more intense flavor. Use 1 teaspoon fresh in place of 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.
When using a sugary soda like Coca-Cola, be mindful of flare-ups on the grill from the sugar when basting.
Make sure the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F for safety purposes.
To prevent the pork chops from sticking to the grill, oil the grates before placing them on.
Try different cuts of pork or even chicken in this recipe.
Drizzle any remaining boiled marinade over the chops before serving.
Marinating the pork chops in soy sauce and cola helps tenderize the meat and adds a sweet and savory flavor to the dish.
You can experiment with using other colas (Pepsi, Dr Pepper) or sodas such as root beer or ginger ale for a different flavor. Just don't use diet cola as it can lend a bitter taste to the meat.
Boiling the marinade helps to kill any harmful bacteria from the raw meat and creates a glaze that can be used to baste the pork chops while grilling.
You can use either, just adjust the cooking time as needed based on their thickness. They should register 145 degrees F on a meat thermometer.
Basting the pork chops frequently with the marinade while grilling will help keep them moist and flavorful.
Allowing the pork chops to rest for a few minutes after cooking will help redistribute the juices.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat to provide a proper sear on the outside while cooking the pork chops through.
You can broil the pork chops in the oven if a grill is not available. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly. Place them about 5 inches from the heat source.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

The marinade is outstanding!! Most tender pork I think I've ever made. Will be making this regularly.

I did tried this recipe today at a family picnic. I was afraid of a 10 hrs marinating period will affect the flavor on either flavor or make them to dark. But to my surprise it was a successful meal. Thank you for sharing thi easy to follow recipe. Few others want the recipe as well. Thanks again

These chops are really tasty. Just fried them in a pan as it was a very cold and windy day in Michigan. Even my husband like them and he usually doesn't like pork chops unless they are grilled. Do try them. You'll not be disappointed.

These ended up being some of the most tender pork chops I've ever had. I had no idea that simple cola could tenderize like that. And the flavor wasn't sweet like I was afraid it would be. Had sort of a teriyaki flavor. Really amazing and incredibly easy to prepare.
