Steak And Mushrooms Over Rice

ingredients
1 1/2 tablespoon oil
1 1/2 pound round steak, cut into thin strips
2 large onions, sliced and separated into rings
1 can (10.75 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup dry sherry
8 ounces sliced mushrooms (fresh or canned)
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
rice (see directions)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Heat a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil.
Add the steak and onions and cook, stirring frequently, until browned.
Stir in the soup, sherry, mushrooms, and garlic salt.
Mix well. Cover the skillet and place in the oven. Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour or until the steak is tender and the mushrooms are soft.
While the steak and mushrooms are cooking, cook rice as desired (white, brown, packaged pilaf, etc).
Serve the steak, mushrooms, and sauce over the hot rice.
