It's National Angel Food Cake Day, a time to honor this low-guilt dessert popularized in the 19th Century. Maybe its light, airy texture and the fact that it is low in fat are the reasons it's called angel food. Maybe it's because it is baked round with a hole in the middle, like big fluffy halos!
