Would really love to see some more homemade cola recipes, so that I can, for one, save money, & two, drink healthier while not giving up my "cola monkey". All the chemicals in sodas to day (doesn't matter the brand) are becoming a turn-off to me, yet I still need my soda fix, so I am searching the net for various cola recipes so I can have more than one choice to drink. And yes "tastes REALLY nasty" really isn't a very good critique, I will agree with CDKitchen
I, too, have tried this several times, in the great hope that I could have a cola w/o all of the awful additives/sweeteners---------It always turns out REALLY nasty, you couldn't pay me enough to drink it.
Please give more details - simply saying it "turns out REALLY nasty" doesn't really help anyone else to understand what you didn't like about it and how they might be able to change it to make it better.

I've tried this several times, just in case I was messing up the recipe, and in NO WAY does this taste like cola.
