The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

2 pkgs (1 ounce size) bearnaise sauce mix
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 teaspoon tarragon
1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
3 shallots, minced
1 pound cooked ham, cut in 1-inch chunks
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 pound red potatoes, scrubbed, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
1 package (9 ounce size) frozen artichoke halves and quarters, thawed
1 pound skinless chicken breast tenderloins, cut in chunks
In a crockpot, mix both packages of bearnaise sauce mix, wine, tarragon, turmeric, and garlic powder until well blended. Add shallots, ham, red pepper, potatoes, artichokes and chicken. Stir gently. Cover, set heat on low setting, and cook for 6 hours.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

This was great for a girlfriend's get together. Easy to make and yummy with the white wine and champagne I served.
