ingredients
1 loaf (1.5 pound size) sourdough bread, long and not sliced 1/2 cup butter, melted 2 teaspoons poppy seeds, optional 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 16 ounces Monterey jack cheese slices 1/3 cup minced green onions or parsley, optional
directions
Preheat the oven broiler.
Cut slices the long way down the loaf of bread, about 1-inch apart. Only cut down into the loaf about 2/3rds of the way.
Make cuts crosswise through the long slices, about 1-inch apart and 2/3rds through the loaf.
Combine the melted butter, poppy seeds, and garlic powder in a measuring cup. Drizzle the butter mixture in the cuts of the bread.
Slice the cheese into 1-inch squares. Tuck the cheese into the cuts in the bread. Sprinkle the bread with the green onions or parsley.
Place the bread loaf on a baking sheet. Place in the oven under the broiler and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove the bloomin' party bread from the oven and serve while hot.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.
The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

This is one of those "why didn't I think of that" party foods. HUGE hit. I made two of them and everyone gobbled them up in no time.
