Classic beef and noodles, aka slow cooker stroganoff! Mushrooms and onion give the meat a savory compliment while sour cream brings a rich texture to the sauce. Wonderful for a chilly night in!
2 pounds beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes
1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, halved
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 cup beef broth
1/3 cup dry sherry
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
4 cups hot cooked noodles
Combine the beef stew meat, mushrooms, onion, garlic, salt, oregano, black pepper, marjoram, bay leaf, broth, and sherry in the crock pot. Stir well. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
Turn the crock pot to high and remove the bay leaf. In a bowl, mix together the sour cream, flour, and water. Stir into the crock pot and mix well.
Cover the crock pot and cook on high for 30 minutes or until the mixture is thickened and heated through.
Serve the beef and sauce over hot cooked noodles.

A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

Made this at the firehouse and all the crew loved it! Great beef and noodles recipe.

My wife and kids all said it was "delicious" and it is very rare when we all like the same meal.

This was a really tasty meal, but shouldn't be called "Classic Beef and Noodles." It's a basic beef stroganoff recipe. Still, I've been looking for a good stroganoff recipe for my slow cooker for a while and this is the best one I've come across. Omitted the sherry as another reviewer did and scarcely noticed the difference. This one was an instant family pleaser!

I really liked this easy recipe. I used canned mushrooms instead of fresh, and used the liquid in place of the water. Also added more onions. I've sent it to my daughter and sister-in-law.

I really enjoyed this! Made it without the sherry and used the beef broth in its place and added extra onions. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth good! I recommend this recipe and would suggest you serve it over egg noodles.
