1-2 hrs
ingredients
2 tablespoons salt
5 quarts boiling water
1 pound medium egg noodles
1 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons butter
4 pounds ground beef (or chuck)
2 cups celery (more or less)
1 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
6 cans (8 ounce size) tomato sauce
1 can (1 pound size) whole kernel corn, drained
salt, to taste
1 pound Cheddar cheese, grated
directions
Add the salt to boiling water. Gradually add noodles so that water continues to boil. Cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally until just tender. Drain thoroughly.
Meanwhile, saute onion and celery in butter in large skillet until soft. Add meat and cook until browned, stirring to break up large pieces. Add pepper, tomato sauce, drained corn and salt to taste. Mix well.
Combine meat mixture with drained, cooked noodles. Turn into 6-quart baking dish. Cover and cook at 350 degrees F for 1/2 hour and then cook uncovered for 1/2 hour. Top with cheese for last ten minutes of cooking time.
