ingredients
2 cups basic bottled barbecue sauce
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1 small onion, diced
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon bacon grease or oil
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (more if desired)
1/4 cup bourbon or apple juice concentrate
directions
Heat the bacon grease (or oil) in a wide, deep saucepan. Add the onions and cook until translucent. Add the apples and simmer for 3 minutes.
Add red pepper, vinegar and simmer for 20 more minutes.
Stir in the bourbon. Cover and remove from heat.
Serve anytime after cooked. Goes great with brisket or tri-tip.
