Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.

The French 75 was created at the New York Bar in Paris. It's very similar to the Tom Collins which has club soda instead of the champagne. This cocktail is also known as the "75 Cocktail" or "Soixante Quinze". Some versions of the French 75 use cognac instead of gin which gives it a warmer flavor but we prefer the gin version. Next time you watch the movie Casablanca keep an eye out for this drink's cameo!
ice
3 ounces gin
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 lemon, juiced
8 ounces Champagne
lemon slices
maraschino cherries
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the gin, sugar, lemon juice, and champagne. Gently shake to combine.
Strain into champagne flutes and garnish with lemon slices and cherries.

It's best to make the French 75 just before serving to preserve the fizz of the Champagne. However, you can mix the gin, sugar, and lemon juice in advance and add the Champagne just before serving.
Besides lemon slices and cherries, you can garnish with a twist of lemon peel, or a sprig of mint.
Freshly squeezed lemon juice is preferred for its fresh flavor, but you can use high-quality store-bought lemon juice if fresh lemons are not available. Avoid generic brands or those little plastic lemon-shaped squeeze bottles (do they still make those?)
Yes, you can use any type of gin. Flavored gins like citrus or botanical varieties can add an interesting twist. The gin flavor is pronounced, so use a good quality.
Yes, you can mix the gin, sugar, and lemon juice in a large pitcher and add the Champagne just before serving.

I love me a tom collins so gave this a try. A bit sweeter because of the champagne but very good. Does pack a punch! Good summertime drink.
