Kansas City Apple Barbecue Sauce

ingredients
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
3/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup tomato paste
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
directions
In a medium saucepan, cook onion and garlic in hot oil over medium heat until onion is tender. Stir in apple juice, tomato paste, vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, paprika, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until sauce is desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
Brush on chicken during the last 10 minutes of grilling.
