The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
5 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
6 slices lean, thick bacon, cooked until crisp and crumbled
1/3 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
6 fresh basil sprigs for garnish
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
salt and pepper, to taste
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
directions
In a bowl or container, toss together the tomatoes, bacon and chopped basil until the mixture is combined.
In a small bowl, whisk together the vinegar, salt and pepper and olive oil to combine.
Pour the dressing over the tomato mixture, toss the salad lightly until it is coated well with the dressing. Garnish servings with basil sprigs.
