How do you add as much flavor as possible to a burger? Dry rub is the answer. Steve's rub is famous for adding a sweet and spicy kick to otherwise ordinary burger patties.
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup Kosher salt
2 tablespoons coarse ground black pepper
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 pound lean ground beef
4 slices cheese
4 hamburger buns
condiments and toppings, as desired
Combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, dried onion, paprika, and garlic salt in an airtight container. The rub mix will keep for 4-6 months stored in a cool, dry location.
Preheat the grill to medium heat.
Form the ground beef into equal-sized patties. Sprinkle the burgers with the dry rub, as desired. Place the burgers on the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes, turning the burgers as needed, until desired doneness.
Top each of the burgers with a slice of cheese and let the cheese melt for 1 minute then remove the burgers from the grill.
Serve the burgers on buns with any desired condiments and toppings.

Liked the hint of sweet with the rub but would have liked a little more "heat" to it. Maybe some cayenne instead of the paprika. Overall very good and it makes enough that you can use it on multiple occasions.
