A tasty non-meat burger made from garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and ready in minutes.
1 can (15 ounce size) garbanzo beans
1 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
salt and pepper, to taste
8 hamburger buns
Drain the garbanzo beans but reserve the liquid.
Place the garbanzo beans in a food processor. Pulse process until smooth, adding some of the reserved liquid from the can as needed to form a smooth but thick mixture. Add the garlic, cumin, cayenne, salt, and pepper and process until combined.
Combine the bean mixture with the oats in a bowl and mix well. Add additional oats if needed to hold the mixture together. Form the bean mixture into patties 1/2-inch thick.
Heat a lightly greased nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the burgers and cook for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
Serve the burgers on buns with desired toppings.

This was awesome. I actually made the paste replacing the hot pepper for paprika and shaped it like *nuggets* for my preschool students, fried it in a little canola oil and served it with ketchup and sweet potato oven fries. Great tasting and very healthy. Thank you!
