Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

cook's notes
This recipe is not set in stone. The ingredients can be adjusted by substitutions and amounts. I like to use LOTS of mandarin oranges, and sometimes use other fruits. Nuts or other items can be added.

Loved this recipe. I made mine with peaches, blackberries, fresh pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, canned mandarin orange, homemade marshmallows, kiwi, coconut, walnuts, and mango. This is the best ambrosia recipe. Thank you.

Simply delicious. I used the mandarin oranges in pear juice, fruit cocktail in pear juice and pineapple in its own juice, also used low fat sour cream and low fat cool whip. Good thing I had a taste because it disappeared very fast. This time I will double the recipe.

made this ambrosia for a July 4th pot luck dinner. Everyone loved it. If you use bananas and apples, like I did, don't forget to place them in a bowl of lemon juice ahead of time so they don't brown. Don't forget to drain away the lemon juice. This recipe is great for a large crowd and looks sooooo pretty if you place maraschino cherries on top.
My mother likes to add bananas, & if your going to be serving later do not add the bananas until your ready to serve, because they will brown & take away from the salad. It is very fast & easy.
