It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Adding a twist to your usual pancake or waffle breakfast can be as simple as this syrup recipe. Use your favorite gelatin flavors for a different syrup each time.
1 small package flavored gelatin powder
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Combine the dry gelatin powder, water, sugar, and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is at a rolling boil, about 2-4 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat. Transfer the syrup to a heat-proof pitcher and let the syrup cool until it slightly thickens.
Serve the gelatin syrup, while still warm, over pancakes or waffles.
