Forget what you know about pancake syrup, because this will change everything. Vanilla extract and cream make a rich sauce that makes pancakes and waffles downright decadent.

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine the sugar, corn syrup and whipping cream in a saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixed and sugar is dissolved. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until syrup begins to thicken.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Serve warm over pancakes or waffles, or over pound cake or coffee cake.
