Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

If you are grilling dinner then this is a super easy way to make dessert since you already have the grill fired up. Perfect served with ice cream. I've also soaked the fresh pineapple in rum (drain well) before putting on the grill. It flares a little but the brown sugar gets nicely caramelized and it has a good flavor.
