One of our favorite twists on the classic Bloody Mary. This one is made with clamato instead of tomato juice.
celery salt
1 quart Clamato clam tomato juice cocktail
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
8 ounces vodka
1 ounce Rose's lime juice, plus more for the glass rims
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt and black pepper, as needed
6 celery stalks
OR
6 lime twists
Pour some lime juice in a shallow dish. Pour celery salt onto a plate or saucer. Invert a highball glass and dip the rim of the glass into the lime juice then into the celery salt. Fill the glass with ice and set the glass aside. Repeat with remaining glasses.
In a pitcher, combine the Clamato, tabasco, vodka, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper (as desired). Mix well then pour into the rimmed glasses.
Serve each cocktail garnished with a celery stick and/or a lime twist.
Experiment with different seasonings like horseradish or other types of hot sauce to customize the flavor.
For a unique twist, try adding a splash of pickle juice or olive brine for an extra kick of flavor.
Adjust the amount of Worcestershire sauce to balance the savory and tangy flavors to taste.
Try using a flavored or infused vodka for a more complex flavor in the drink.
To make a pitcher of Bloody Caesars for a crowd, simply multiply the ingredients accordingly and serve in a large pitcher with plenty of ice.
Clamato is a commercial mixture of clam and tomato juice that has a slight briny taste compared to regular tomato juice. You can make your own Clamato by using 3 parts tomato juice to 1 part clam juice.
While vodka is traditional, you can experiment with other spirits like gin or tequila.
You can omit the vodka and enjoy a Virgin Bloody Caesar by simply increasing the amount of Clamato and adjusting the seasonings to taste.
In addition to celery sticks and lime twists, you can get creative with garnishes like pickled vegetables, olives, cooked shrimp, or even bacon strips.
The mix can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. However, it's best to add the ice and garnishes just before serving.
You can prepare the rimmed glasses ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until ready to use. Just make sure to add the ice and drink mix before serving.
You can control the heat by adding more or less Tabasco sauce as desired.
Highball Glasses: For serving the Bloody Caesars. These glasses are typically tall and narrow, perfect for showcasing the cocktail's vibrant colors and garnishes.
Shallow Dish: Used for pouring lime juice to rim the glasses. The shallow depth allows for easy dipping of the glass rims.
Plate or Saucer: For holding the celery salt, making it easy to coat the rims of the glasses after dipping in lime juice.
Pitcher: For mixing the Clamato, Tabasco sauce, vodka, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper together before serving.
Measuring Cups and Spoons: For measuring out ingredients such as the vodka, lime juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
Bar Spoon or Stirring Stick: Helpful for mixing the cocktail ingredients in the pitcher. A long spoon can also work.
Shrimp Cocktail: The briny shrimp complements the savory Bloody Caesar, making shrimp cocktail a classic pairing.
Spicy Chicken Wings: The heat from the wings plays nicely with the tanginess of the Bloody Caesar. You can adjust the spice level to match the cocktail's kick.
Charcuterie Board: A selection of cured meats, cheeses, and pickles provides a range of textures and flavors. The salty and tangy elements on the board mirror the cocktail's complexity.
Fish Tacos: The zesty flavors of fish tacos enhance the savory notes of the Bloody Caesar.
Pickled Vegetables: Tangy, crunchy pickled veggies can act as a delightful contrast to the drink.
Ceviche: The zesty citrus and fresh seafood in the ceviche harmonize beautifully with the Clamato base.
Sliders: Mini burgers with a hint of spice and topped with pickles (optional) pair well.
Stuffed Jalapenos: Spicy sausage stuffed jalapenos bring the heat and richness that balances the drink's flavor.
