These aren't your usual burgers! Shrimp patties are cooked in a skillet and served on buns coated with a zesty mayo-sauce.

serves/makes:

ready in:
  under 30 minutes

ingredients

1 pound small (51/60 count size) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 stalk celery, chopped
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon fresh parsley
1 tablespoon Old Bay seafood seasoning
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
salt and pepper, as desired
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 seeded hamburger buns, split and toasted
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup chili sauce or ketchup
lettuce leaves
sliced tomato
sliced cucumber
sliced red onion

directions

Place half of the shrimp in a food processor and process until they are a coarse grind. Scrape the mixture out into a bowl. Coarsely chop the whole shrimp and add to the bowl.

Add the celery, onion, garlic, and parsley to the food processor and finely chop them. Remove to the bowl of shrimp.

Stir the Old Bay, cayenne, salt, and pepper into the shrimp and vegetable mixture. Mix well.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil.

When the oil is hot, divide the shrimp mixture into serving portions. Add the shrimp mixture to the hot skillet and press gently to form into patties.

Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the shrimp burgers are firm and cooked through.

Meanwhile, stir together the mayo and chili sauce. Brush the toasted sides of the hamburger buns with the mixture.

When the shrimp burgers are cooked, place lettuce and tomato on the bottom buns. Top with the shrimp burger. Add the sliced cucumbers and onions and top with the other bun.

Serve immediately.
