Sour Cream Clam Dip

A simple version of the popular party dip made with clams, sour cream, dehydrated onion, and seasonings. Serve with crackers or chips.

ingredients

1 can (6.5 ounce size) chopped minced clams
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon dehydrated minced onions
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
4 drops hot pepper sauce
1 pinch garlic powder
chopped fresh chives, for garnish

directions

Drain the clams and reserve 2 tablespoons of the juice.

Combine the sour cream, onions, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic powder, and clam juice in a bowl. Mix well.

Fold in the clams. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour. Remove from the refrigerator 15 minutes before serving. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes. When ready to serve, sprinkle with the chopped chives. Serve with crackers or potato chips.

    Instead of Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, substitute a 1->1.5 tsp of finely ground horseradish. MUCH better.

    It was surprising how much of the Worcestershire sauce you could taste since it only called for one teaspoon. I guess I would go for half as much next time and maybe a little more of the hot sauce. But it was pretty good and got eaten up at our little game night get-together.

    I found the flavor of the Worcestershire sauce to be a bit pronounced when I tasted the dip with a spoon but oddly when putting the dip on crackers it tasted more balanced. The consistency of the dip was good but if you use a reduced-fat or fat-free sour cream it might be more watery depending on the brand you use.
