Oven-Easy Beef And Potato Dinner

ingredients
4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound ground beef
1 cup water
1 package (about.75 ounce size) brown gravy mix
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 package (10 ounce size) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed and drained
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 onion, cut into thin strips or into rings

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a 8- x 12-inch baking dish, combine potatoes, oil and pepper. Firmly press potato mixture evenly across bottom and up sides of dish to form a shell. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, in large skillet, brown ground beef; drain. Stir in water, gravy mix and garlic salt; bring to boil. Add mixed vegetables; reduce heat to medium and cook, uncovered, 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup cheese and half of the cut up onions; spoon into hot potato shell.
Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes or until heated through. Top with remaining cheese and onions. Bake, uncovered, 5 minutes or until golden brown.

I took this dish to a potluck and everyone seemed to enjoy it as there was not a lot left.
