Slow Cooker Round Steak And Tomato Casserole

ingredients
2 pounds round steak, cut 1/2" thick
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 onion, thinly sliced
4 potatoes, pared and quartered, optional
1 can (16 ounce size) French-style green beans, drained
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can (10.75 ounce size) tomato soup
1 can (14.5 ounce size) diced tomatoes
directions
Cut the steak into serving pieces. Season with the salt and pepper.
Place the onion and potatoes in the bottom of the crock pot. Top with the steak pieces.
Add the drained green beans, garlic, tomatoes and tomato soup.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the steak is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.

Omitted the potatoes because I wanted to serve this with pasta. Suspected it would get watery from the instructions so I drained the canned tomatoes really well first and was glad I did. Could just thicken with cornstarch to make it more gravy like but I didn't need to since I drained the tomatoes. Pretty good flavor for such a simple dish. I think the tomato soup added a lot. Wouldn't use the low sodium/healthy kind or generic as I don't think they ahve the same flavor.

I always cook round steak on low because it's a tougher cut of meat so that's what I did hear and it turned out very good and tender.
