under 30 minutes
ingredients
1 pound 85-percent lean ground beef
2 tablespoons green onion, chopped finely
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
4 slices mozzarella, jack or Cheddar cheese
lettuce
4 whole grain burger buns, split
4 slices grilled tomato
1/4 cup blue cheese, crumbled (optional)
directions
Combine with ground beef, onion, garlic and pepper with fork. Gently shape into 1/2-inch thick patties.
Put patties on grill over medium coals. Grill for about 10 minutes for medium or to desired doneness, turning only once and taking care not to smash burgers. Toast buns on cut side.
Top burgers with cheese slices in last minute of grilling.
Arrange lettuce on roll; top with burger, tomato slice and blue cheese. Serve immediately.
NOTE: To grill tomato: Brush both sides of tomato lightly with olive oil. Grill over medium coals, turning only once until heated through.
