2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons lemon juice or orange juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup safflower oil

directions

Combine the mustard, honey, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Gradually whisk in the oil to form a creamy dressing.

Use immediately or store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Whisk well before serving.

recipe tips

Gradually add the oil while whisking to create an emulsion.

Adjust the amounts of honey and lemon juice to taste.

Store the dressing in a squeeze bottle for easy serving.

Shake or whisk the dressing well before each use as the ingredients may separate.

For a thicker dressing, reduce the amount of oil slightly.

Use freshly squeezed citrus juice for the best flavor.

Try different types of mustard for different flavors.

Use this versatile dressing on salads, as a dipping sauce, or as a marinade for chicken or pork.

I made this and enjoyed the flavor. Will be making this again.

  2. Helen REVIEW:

Really tasty and thickened well will definitely be using again

  3. Kimmer REVIEW:

Tried this as a dip for chicken fingers. It didn't thicken, it was runny. And tasted greasy. Not a lot of flavour.

    • You need to whisk in the oil to have it thicken. You can also put the ingredients in a blender and slowly add the oil that way if you're having trouble with it not thickening. If the oil wasn't emulsified properly then it would be more greasy.

A great recipe, I was making it for a salad so I actually cut the oil down to a 1/4 cup, still works great. Its nice to find one without mayo.

  5. Valerie REVIEW:

Quick and easy to make and very tasty. We also tried agave instead of honey (slight health benefit). You can adjust any of the ingredients to suit your personal tastes but we liked the proportions as written.

  6. Guest Foodie REVIEW:

Tastes good. Was looking for something more creamy though.
