Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

NOTE: The following recipe was intended for use with a Pampered Chef Ice Shaver to make a faux ice cream, but i believe that it should work well with popsicles too. The recipe itself started out as a Pampered Chef recipe using crushed peppermints (TASTES SUPER!), but I substituted root beer barrels because I wanted something similar to a root beer float. I would go on a limb to say that it will very likely work with most any strong flavored hard candy of your choice.
The challenge in making popsicles from home is in making them the right consistency so the flavor adheres and melds properly. Try using a syrup-type base without adding TOO much extra water.
Add candy and sugar to boiling water. Stir and boil until candy is fully dissolved. Whisk in half and half. Pour into molds and freeze.
