Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

1 package lime jello
1 cup boiling water
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 can frozen limeade concentrate
8 drops green food coloring
4 cups milk
2 cups light cream
Dissolve Jello in water, then add sugar and salt. Stir limeade concentrate until thawed and then stir into above. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into one gallon freezer. Container should be about 3/4 full. Freeze.

Growing up lime sherbet was one of my favorite desserts. Been looking for a good recipe for quite a while and I think this one tastes like "childhood" to me. I used a regular size package of lime jello (that's the smaller one, not the large) but I skipped the food coloring since I really was going for taste more than appearance. It's only a light green so if you want the bold sherbet color I'd add the food coloring. It was really creamy and good and had very good lime flavor.
it doesn't say what size jello pkg. nor the size of limeade. just wondering that way it can be made right the first time thanks
