A delicious and easy way to enjoy chicken wings. The perfect blend of sweet and savory with apricot jam, onion soup mix, and Russian salad dressing.
5 pounds chicken wings, tips removed and wings separated at joint
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 jar (10 ounce size) apricot jam
8 ounces Russian salad dressing
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
Place the wings in a 9x13 baking dish. In a bowl, combine the onion soup mix, apricot jam, and salad dressing. Mix until the soup mix is dissolved. Pour over the wings evenly.
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 250 degrees F for 3-4 hours or until the wings are cooked through. Do not bake at a higher temperature or the apricot sauce may burn.
Serve the wings hot.
Serve the apricot onion wings with dipping sauces like ranch or blue cheese.
Yes, you can use other types of jam like peach, orange marmalade, or pineapple.
If you don't have Russian salad dressing, you can use French or Catalina dressing as a substitute. You can also make a simple mix of ketchup, vinegar, and sugar.
Yes, you can make this recipe in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the wings are tender. You can put them under the broiler for a few minutes after cooking to give them more of an oven-baked texture.
To make the dish spicier, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the sauce mixture.
You can marinate the wings in the sauce overnight in the refrigerator. Bake them as directed when ready to serve.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through.
Yes, you can use boneless chicken breasts or thighs. Adjust the cooking time as needed.

I used to make this with chicken breasts!!! It can be messy and sticky, but oh so good! Now, I use it to coat and BBQ Chicken! Try this... Mix ingred and set aside. Par boil chicken with bone in and skin on until almost done. Drain well, let cool. When ready, coat bottom sides first with sauce, then grill till pretty dark. The sugar content gets really dark but this is GOOD. Coat top and turn. BBQ till dark in color. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
