Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Sweet and tangy barbecue spareribs, slowly simmered in the crock pot. Perfect finger food (albeit a little messy).

3 pounds pork spareribs, cut into single or double rib pieces
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 cup white or brown sugar
2/3 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup water
Place the ribs in the crock pot.
In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and mix until the sugar is dissolved.
Pour the sauce over the ribs and stir to combine.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
If desired, preheat the broiler. Transfer the cooked ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet. Baste the ribs with the sauce from the crock pot. Place the ribs under the broiler and cook, turning as needed, until browned.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
