Candy Cane Martini: The adult way to jingle your bells. Rum, peppermint schnapps, and just enough sweetness to keep you on the naughty list.
3 ounces rum
2 ounces peppermint schnapps
1/2 ounce grenadine syrup
1 small candy cane
Fill a martini glass with ice water.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the rum, peppermint schnapps, and grenadine to the shaker. Shake to mix and chill the cocktail.
Empty the cold water from the martini glass.
Strain the martini into the chilled martini glass (or other glass as desired). Garnish with a candy cane. Serve the candy cane martini immediately.
Chill the martini glass in the freezer for a frostier touch.
Use high-quality rum or vodka for a smoother taste.
Experiment with different ratios of rum, schnapps, and grenadine to suit your taste.
For a festive touch, rim the glass with crushed candy cane.
Serve immediately after shaking for the best flavor and temperature.
Consider adding a splash of cream or half-and-half for a creamier texture.
Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint for an additional aromatic element.
If the drink is too strong, dilute it with a small amount of club soda.
Yes, vodka can be substituted for rum to create a different flavor profile.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace the rum and schnapps with peppermint syrup and a non-alcoholic spirit or more grenadine.
Chilling the glass helps keep the drink cold longer and enhances the overall experience, but it's not mandatory.
Yes, but use it sparingly (a few drops) as it's much stronger than schnapps.
A simple syrup with a drop of red food coloring can substitute for grenadine, though the flavor will be slightly different.
It's best made fresh, but you can mix the ingredients in the shaker without ice and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
Reduce the amount of grenadine or use a less sweet schnapps to lower the sweetness.
Yes, you can use any candy that complements the peppermint flavor, like a peppermint stick.
Place the candy cane in a plastic bag and gently crush it with a rolling pin or the back of a spoon.

A pretty pink color makes this a very festive drink. I served it in shot glasses. I dipped the rims in simple syrup and then coated them in colored sugar. It tastes just like a candy cane!
