2 shots vodka
1/4 shot dry vermouth
ice
12 stuffed green olives

directions

Combine the gin, vodka, and vermouth in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously to mix and chill the ingredients.

Place 3 olives into each martini glass. Strain martini mix into each glass.

Serve.

recipe tips

Chill your martini glasses in the freezer before serving to keep your drink colder for longer.

If you prefer a less diluted drink, stir the ingredients with ice instead of shaking them.

For a slightly briny flavor, add a splash of olive brine to make a dirty double martini.

Use garnishes like lemon twists or cocktail onions to change up the presentation.

If you're serving this at a gathering, prepare a large batch of the martini mix in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Serve chilled without additional ice to maintain the strength.

Remember, martinis are strong drinks, so enjoy them responsibly.

common recipe questions

Is it possible to make this martini with only gin or only vodka?

Yes, you can use either only gin or only vodka but that defeats the purpose of this recipe!

What type of olives are best for this martini?

Green olives stuffed with pimento are commonly used, but you can experiment with different types of stuffed olives. Try jalapeno stuffed, garlic stuffed, or almond stuffed olives for variety.

Can I adjust the ratio of gin to vodka?

Adjust the gin and vodka ratio as desired. Some prefer a more gin-heavy mix, while others might favor vodka.

Is it necessary to use dry vermouth?

Dry vermouth is traditional in martinis, but you can omit it or substitute it with another vermouth like sweet or extra dry, depending on what flavor you prefer.

How important is the quality of the spirits in this cocktail?

The quality of spirits is crucial in a martini as it's a spirit-forward drink. Higher quality spirits yield a smoother and more refined cocktail. Bottom shelf brands will yield a harsher flavor (and possibly a hangover!).
