4 turnips, peeled and quartered
4 potatoes, peeled and quartered
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
water
1/4 cup light cream or half and half
2 tablespoons soft butter
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Place the turnips, potatoes, minced onion, and 1 teaspoon of the salt in a crock pot. Add just enough water to cover.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low temperature for 6-8 hours or until the potatoes are tender.
Drain the water from the crock pot and mashed the turnips and potatoes with a potato masher or electric mixer. Stir in the cream, butter, and black pepper. Mix until incorporated.
Serve hot.
