This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
Creamed Peas
- add review
- #24994

ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
seasoning to taste
1 can peas (drained) or frozen baby peas
directions
Melt 2 tablespoons butter over low heat. Add flour. Add and blend over low heat for 3-5 minutes Stir milk in slowly
Cook and stir the sauce with a wire whisk or wooden spoon until thickened and smooth. Season to taste. Stir in peas I use either drained can peas or frozen baby peas, both are good. I also double the recipe, it's according how many will be eating.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.

Had never had creamed peas. Wasn't sure what seasoning to use so I used salt, pepper, and some tarragon. I can see this definitely being appealing to kids. Overall good. Not a bad side recipe if you don't have anything else.

This is the only way my kids will eat peas aside from picking them up one by one. I use frozen petite peas.

I enjoyed this recipe but I had to add more milk because it called for too much flour. Next time I will start with half as much flour and add more as needed.
