ingredients

4 bone-in chicken breasts, cut in half
1 1/2 pound potatoes, peeled and cut in 1-inch pieces
1/2 pound baby carrots
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
2 packages chicken gravy mix
1 1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning or ground sage
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 cup sour cream

directions

Rinse chicken and pat dry. In a 3 1/2 or 4-quart crockery slow cooker, place potatoes, carrots and onion. Top vegetables with chicken overlapping slightly, making sure all chicken is on top.

In a small bowl, combine gravy mixes, water, thyme, poultry seasoning, and seasoned salt. Pour mixture over chicken and vegetables. Cover and cook for 8 hours on low or until chicken is done and vegetables are tender. Place chicken and vegetables on a platter or in large bowl. Whisk sour cream into drippings in pot; pour over chicken and vegetables.

  1. mc REVIEW:

Reminded me of chicken stroganoff. I used boneless chicken instead of bone in because I don't like when the bones fall apart in the crock pot. The sour cream cuts the saltiness of the gravy mix.

  2. maryg083 REVIEW:

This was really good, but we didn't really care for the sour cream sauce at the end. I think next time I'll make extra gravy from the drippings. I also only had time to cook it on high for 4 hours-it was a little dry because of that, so if you plan on making it, try to give yourself the 8 hours needed. Definately worth a try!
