This recipe was not worth the effort put forth. The bread didn't rise above 3 inches and it was so dense and chewy I had to scrap the entire loaf. I even read the recipe again after tossing the bread to ensure I didn't miss a critical step or ingredient.
Did you check your yeast? Did the dough seem ok (not too dry, not too moist) during the initial kneading cycles in your bread machine? Did you keep the salt away from the yeast when you added it? What kind of yeast did you use?
