Need an easy apple dessert? Just a few ingredients and 20 minutes in the oven yields a home-style cobbler everyone will love.
1 can (20 ounce size) sliced apples (not pie filling)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut in small bits
1/2 package (15-18 ounce size) white cake mix, sifted or stirred to remove clumps
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the sliced apples in the bottom of an 8x8-inch or other 2 quart sized baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon and sugar.
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the apples. Spread the cold, diced butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
Do not stir.
Place the pan in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20-30 minutes or until bubbly.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping.

This is one of my go to desserts when I need something last minute. I keep everything on hand. Works with other fruit/fillings and cake flavors too.

I wasn't sure what size can a "large" can was so I used a 21 ounce can. That filled an 8x8 baking dish. It served 6 just fine. We put cool whip on top.

Although quite tastey, this dessert was only about an inch tall. Don't count on feeding more than six people with the original recipe. It was very good with ice cream.
