Mountain Dew really is the secret ingredient to these delectable dumplings! Apples rolled up in crescent dough with a pinch of cinnamon bake up to perfection.
2 granny smith apples, or honeycrisp or braeburn
2 cans (8 count size) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 can (12 ounce size) Mountain Dew, Sprite, or 7-up
ground cinnamon, to sprinkle
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Peel the apples and remove the core. Cut each apple into 8 wedges.
Unroll the crescent dough onto a flat work surface and separate the dough along the perforations.
Place one wedge of apple on each crescent roll triangle at the end. Roll up the dough as if making crescent rolls, completely covering the apple wedges. Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
Add the butter to a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and vanilla and stir gently until the sugar dissolves in the melted butter.
Pour the butter mixture evenly over the apple dumplings in the pan.
Carefully pour the Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan being careful not to wash the butter mixture off the dumplings.
Sprinkle the tops of the dumplings lightly with cinnamon. Place the baking dish on the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until the crescent roll dough is cooked and the sauce in the dish is bubbly.
Serve the apple dumplings warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Love buffalo wings? Get that same hot, zippy flavor in everything from deviled eggs to enchiladas. And of course: wings.

Been making this for years and it's always a hit. You can use any lemon lime soda including mountain dew. I did try it once with strawberry soda and that didn't turn out well :)

I've never written a review before, but this was so good that I just had to write one lol. This was so very easy, smelled great, and tasted out of this world! I will definitely make this again and again. I did question using the granny smith apples, but they were perfect for this.

The recipe is good, but the first time I made it I accidentally bought cinnamon rolls instead of crescent rolls. I thought it was even better with the cinnamon rolls.

I have made this recipe many times & it is wonderful. Last week I made enough to serve 420 people! I don't want to look at an apple for awhile, but they got raves at my fundraiser.

I did add a sprinkle of cinnamon to each dumpling before putting the sugar on them(I like cinnamon). I made it without it the first time and it was excellent also. The recipe is simple and yet looks like you spend a great deal of time with it.
