ingredients

5 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup apple juice

directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9x9-inch square or 10-inch round baking dish.

Place half of the apple slices in the prepared baking dish.

Combine the brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter in a bowl. Mix with a pastry blender or two forks until a crumbly mixture is formed. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the apples.

Place the remaining apple slices over the oat mixture. Evenly sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the apples.

Slowly drizzle the apple juice over the top.

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 375 degrees F for 35 minutes or until the oat topping is crisp and golden brown.

  1. Jeffsbabe REVIEW:

Excellent recipe. I dbled. the recipe I added about 2/3 c flour and a 2/3 c gran. sugar to apples and as one reviewer did I added a couple pears too. Sprinkled cinnamon over that. Added to a greased 9x13. Then I mixed 2 cups Brn sugar, a good measure of oats, 1 1/3 c flour and 1 cup softened butter. Mixed with my hands til all mixed well. Placed on top of fruit and cooked 1 hr 15 min with me laying a piece of foil over the last 30 min or so. Came out delicious.

It was very easy to make though I used 10 apples but they were small ones, my family loved it and the longest part was peeling the apples other then that it was very simple and turned out very well
