This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

A good soup is magical for turning a cheaper cut of meat into something scrumptious. This hearty meat-and-potatoes meal is always a hit.

2 pounds top round steak, cut in to 1-inch cubes
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cups water
5 baking potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
3 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 small onions, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 cup frozen sweet green peas
1 can (16 ounce size) whole kernel corn, drained
1 can (6 ounce size) tomato paste
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
2 teaspoons black pepper
Toss the steak cubes in the flour and shake off any excess. Set the meat aside.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat and cook, stirring occasionally for 5-6 minutes or until lightly browned on all sides.
Add the browned steak, water, and remaining ingredients to a 5-quart crock pot and gently stir to combine.
Cover the crock pot and cook on high heat for 2 hours, or low heat for 3-4 hours, or until the vegetables and meat are tender.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.

Good hearty soup. I added some herbs but otherwise followed the recipe to a T.
