ingredients
3 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/4 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced or chopped
6 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
6 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons black pepper
3/4 cup ketchup
4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon tabasco hot sauce, or more to taste
directions
Place the sugar, strawberries, vinegar, and water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let cook for 45 minutes or until the sauce is thickened and the strawberries are soft.
Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the black pepper, ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce.
Mix well until the mixture is completely combined. Let cool to room temperature then store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Delicious on grilled ribs, pork, or chicken.
