Applesauce Marshmallow Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups flour
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup softened shortening
2 eggs
1 cup walnut halves
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
20 marshmallows
Directions:
Sift together sugar, flour, soda, baking powder and spices. Add shortening, eggs and applesauce. Beat until smooth and well blended. Mix in walnuts.
Pour into 9 x 13 greased pan. Press marshmallows to the bottom of pan in 4 rows, 5 to each row. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Marshmallows make frosting.
