Delicious! I have a family member with a compromised sense of taste so I added 1 tsp. cinnamon; 1/4 tsp. allspice and 1/8 tsp. cardamon. I broke my 13x9" pan and had to use 2 smaller pans - no problems. I just cut the cook time to 30 min. I too followed Mr. Bill's advice and let the cake set 4 hours.

A southern classic! The recipe should specify what the other reviewer wrote that it needs to sit after you pour the icing over it.

Very easy cake to make..... once you have put the "frosting" on the cake, DO NOTHING! Let the cake sit 4-8 hours. It makes all the difference to allow that topping to soak into the cake. Cake is good but a little bit rich.
