Hawaiian-Style Banana Bread

ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup shortening
4 eggs, well beaten
6 ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla, optional
directions
Cream two sugars and shortening. Mix wet and dry ingredients. Add the walnuts and vanilla (optional).
Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans, or a 13" x 9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
