Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

ingredients
2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup reduced-calorie margarine, melted
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon imitation butter flavoring
3 egg whites
1 egg
1 package (18.25 ounce size) light yellow cake mix
1 package (8 ounce size) nonfat cream cheese, softened
non-stick cooking spray
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
directions
Combine first 9 ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed of a mixer until smooth. Pour batter into a 13- x 9-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until golden. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
