Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.


CRUST
1 cup butter
2 cups flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
FILLING
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
FROSTING
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon almond extract
For crust, cream butter, flour and powdered sugar and pat into even layer in 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.
For filling, beat together filling ingredients and pour over crust while it is still hot. Bake 15-20 minutes, or until fillilng is set in middle. Remove from oven and cool.
For frosting, whisk together frosting ingredients and spread evenly over the baked, cooled pan of bars. Cut into bars.

These were excellent! Wanted to upload a picture, but they disappeared so fast I didn't get a chance. Fairly easy to make for an experienced cook. The almond flavoring was just right. I did add a little more milk (about 2-3 tsp) to the frosting to make it easier to spread.
