ingredients

1/2 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 tablespoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
3/4 pound sirloin steak, sliced 1/2" thick
flour for dredging
salt and pepper for dredging
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup onion, sliced
1 cup green pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 cup nonfat beef broth

directions

In a small bowl combine the first five spice ingredients.

Flour the meat and brown steak in hot oil. Transfer to a plate.

To the skillet, add onion and bell pepper. Cook over moderate heat for 5 minutes. Add spice mixture and garlic and cook 1 minute.

Add tomato paste, brown sugar, lime juice, and beef broth. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add steak and reheat.
