Warm Peaches With Whipped Cream
- add review
- #105104

under 30 minutes
ingredients
6 ripe yellow peaches
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions
Cut each peach in half, then cut each half into 4 slices. Set aside.
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, sprinkle the sugar over the butter and stir until dissolved, about 1 minute.
Add the peaches, increase the heat to medium-high, and cook, stirring frequently, until the peaches are softened and coated with a thin sauce, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand a few minutes.
Meanwhile, in a bowl, beat the cream and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Spoon the peaches and sauce into bowls and serve with a dollop of whipped cream.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!

this recipe was a good starting point, but is poorly written. the first instruction tells you to saute the fruit. further on, you are told to add the peaches that you just sauteed if you followed the directions. i sauteed the peaches on medium heat and then kept them covered simmering on low. i added (instead of sugar) agave, honey, and cinnamon later on. i ended up adding more butter (perhaps a tablespoon) while they were still warm and it was perfect.
You're just not reading the directions right. Where it says "Saute the fruit:" that's the submitter of the recipe's way of creating a heading to that part of the directions. It's just telling you that the following instructions are on how to saute the fruit. You'll notice they do the same with "Prepare the topping:". The ":" is the giveaway.
